What is interesting is that our word for a mixed party drink is also related to these two words. PUNCH dreives from the Punjab River in India which is fed by FIVE major tributaries. Traditionally punch requires five main ingredients.

Even the word FINGER derives from the same Indo-European root, penk'we, which feeds all these modern derivations.
